The 5.7L LS6 was first featured in the 2001 C5 Corvette Z06 but found its way into other high powered halo cars along the way including the first generation Cadillac CTS-V. The aluminum block based LS6's V8 was purpose built for high performance featuring aluminum heads and aluminum alloy pistons with a forged powder metal connecting rod. The LS6 kicked off the high performance focus of things to come on the LS platform.
